Nostalgia from its earliest definition was as a mental disorder, a particular affliction of soldiers, migrants and sailors a pathological illness and a form of melancholia. This works takes as its point of departure the dream sequences in the 1964 film Shock Corridor, in which transitions from black and white to colour act as moments of sanity in an insane mind. They are colour images in a black and white film, the transitions acting to represent shifts in the mental states of the characters portrayed. The dream images show people of vastly different cultures and locations which is used in the film to represent alternative states of mind.
